City Offers Mayoral Fellowship to the Class of 2017

The City of Germantown is providing a new summer opportunity for local rising high school seniors to gain experience in municipal government. The Germantown Mayoral Summer Fellows Program will allow students to experience the inner workings of municipal government through interaction with the Germantown Mayor, city administrator, department directors and key staff members.

Mayoral Fellows will learn about city planning and economic development and will attend monthly Board of Mayor and Aldermen meetings, key City events and policy meetings throughout the summer. Mayoral Fellows need to be available from June 1 to August 1, and can expect to commit to approximately 40 hours during the course of the program.

Program participation will be limited to five students from the class of 2017, with selection based on resume and a 500-word essay on the value of public service. Applicants are required to have a minimum 2.75 grade point average and provide a letter of recommendation from their high school counselor. The application deadline is April 30. Submit resume, essay and recommendation letter to Mayor Mike Palazzolo, 1930 S. Germantown Road, Germantown, TN 38138.
