GPAC awards tenth grader at Houston High the first Pu-Qi Jiany Music Scholarship

On Sunday, April 24 during the GPAC Youth Symphony Program (GYSP) Spring Concert, GPAC awarded the first Pu-Qi Jiang Excellence in Music Scholarship to Chae-Yeon (Mary) Park. Ms. Park is currently a 10th grade student at Houston High School and plays both cello and piano. She has been in the GPAC Youth Symphony Program for 3 years. The GPAC Youth Orchestra associate conductors describe her as "dedicated, always prepared, professional and exceptionally talented."

Pu-Qi Jiang Excellence in Music Scholarship was created by GPAC in 2015 to honor the retirement of the orchestra's founding music director and conductor, Dr. Pu-Qi Jiang. The scholarship is given annually to a rising junior or senior student who displays excellence in talent, musicianship, attendance, dedication, and overall personality and attitude.
