Houston Middle named as ABC24’s Cool School of the week

Tune into ABC News Channel 24 to view Houston Middle School as they pull out all the stops for this week’s Local Cool School segment. Several events happening at the middle school pushed it into the limelight this week. Wednesday, the entire school wore ‘glow’ attire in celebration of National Walk to School Wednesday.

After lunch, the students were treated to a pep rally in preparation for the Rolling Grizzlies event on Saturday. The cheer and pom squads rallied the students in support of the players and the pep band played. The students were also treated to a preview of the showcase game in which some of their own went up against the Rolling Grizzlies.

Newly elected SGA President, Avery Marquis, served as the spokesperson for the school in a taped interview. “I was elected yesterday, and I was not expecting to start work this soon!” jokes Marquis, who represented the school well. After answering several questions and referencing her involvement with the school’s volleyball team, the news team had her to serve up a few volleyballs for the camera.

The segment airs on ABC24 this Friday (Oct. 9) at 6:00 p.m.
