As a part of a new district-wide campaign, Germantown Municipal Schools hosted its first ever “ACT Awareness Family Night”. Two hundred students along with their families attended the big event. Aimed at students currently in enrolled in 8th -11th grades, the night took attendees through a basketball themed “game plan” to enhance their ACT scores and general test taking skills. The theme this year was March Madness and centered around activities such as:

  • Sweet Sixteen Tips To Raise Your Score
  • Final Four Game Plan Using Naviance
  • Buzzer Beater—Hustling for the most money

Student Hameedha Khan, of the 30+ Club, shares her tip for increasing scores on the ACT.

Germantown Municipal Schools is proud to hold the highest ACT score average in the State of Tennessee, but is looking toward the future with big plans. Houston High School currently celebrates students who have score a 30 (out of 36) or above on the ACT. The group is known as the 30+ Club. Currently sitting at 167 members, the hope is to grow that number by focusing attention on students who are scoring in the 27-29 ranges. Our current 30+ Club led each of the sessions at the March Madness ACT Awareness Night.

Sixteen students are lined up to share their best and most effective ACT test taking tips with the participants.
