Ready to Hit a Homerun: Houston Baseball to compete in the national competition this Spring

The Houston Mustangs baseball team is one of the vital parts of Houston High.  After making it to two state tournaments in the previous two years, including an appearance in the State Championship in 2014, they are off to another positive start this year.

The Mustangs have started out the season 2-0, with wins over Buckhorn (AL) and Southaven (MS). The Mustangs not only display great leadership from an experienced senior class, but also possess a talented core of younger players.

The Mustangs, coached by Coach McCarter and Coach Day, will have a serious challenge ahead as they head to Cary, North Carolina, March 23-26. In Cary, they will be participating in the 2016 USA National High School Invitational, along with 15 of the top high school baseball teams in the country.

In this single-elimination tournament, Houston will face off with Allatoona (GA)in the first round. The Mustangs will need strong performances from not only their pitching staff, but also their potent lineup, to be successful in this tournament.
