Five GMSD Students have been named 2016 National Merit Scholarship Finalists

Each year, an estimated 2.5 million students across the United States take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

In September, 34,000 students were notified of their "commended" status while 16,000 students advanced forward as National Merit Semi-finalists.

By February those students are culled down to the top 7,400 students in the nation. Only these students will be further considered for National Merit Scholarships. Approximately half of the Finalists will be Merit Scholarship winners. These winners are chosen on the basis of their abilities, skills, and accomplishments--judged by their potential for success in rigorous college studies and beyond.

The Germantown Municipal School District and Houston High School are proud to announce five students that have attained the designation.
