Germantown, Tennessee—February 2, 2021--The 2021 Scholastic Art Contest is built upon core, artistic values such as originality, technical skill, and development of a personal voice or vision incorporated in the arts category. Each student’s entry in this contest has been blindly reviewed by many of the role models in visual and literary art. With glorious recognition, seven students from Houston High School won multiple awards and represented the most authentic and unique perspectives and styles.
Winners for the 2021 Scholastic Art Awards:
Alaina Jobe (senior): 3 Honorable Mentions and 1 Gold Key
Ceren Bicken (senior): 1 Silver key
Julia Antipova (senior): 2 Honorable Mentions
Suha Arshad (senior): 1 Silver Key and 1 Gold Key
Adele Ferguson (junior): Honorable Mention
Mary Margaret St. Clair (junior): 1 Honorable Mention and 1 Gold Key
Owen Canter (junior): 1 Silver Key, 2 Gold Key, and the Mixed Media Award for his piece “Golden Swarm”
*All Gold Key pieces will be on display at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art until February 22.
