GMSD will offer all staff an opportunity to receive a vaccine on March 5th, will run modified schedules

Released on February 22, 2021, to all GMSD Families:

GMSD Families,

After much planning and cooperation among the Germantown Municipal School District, Collierville Schools, and the Shelby County Health Department, we have officially confirmed a date for our employees to receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. All GMSD employees are being offered an opportunity on Friday, March 5th

We are excited to give all of our employees the opportunity to be immunized right here in Germantown and begin on a pathway to a pre-COVID school environment.

We have partnered with the Collierville Schools and the emergency response teams in Germantown and Collierville to secure access to the Germantown Baptist Church Vaccination Site for all GMSD and CS employees. As the site will be staffed with emergency response team members from Germantown and Collierville Police and Fire Department staff, we are working with them on providing two dates for staff members to receive their first and second doses.  Friday, March 5th, is the date for the first dose administration.

Due to the scheduling restraints of the GBC and our desire to vaccinate our staff as quickly as possible, our schools will be running modified schedules to maximize in-person instruction and allow teachers to receive their vaccines.  All modified schedules for Friday, March 5th, will be published and shared with families on Friday, February 26.

The last thing we want to do is inconvenience families, and we understand the hardships of running modified scheduling, but having our teachers and employees vaccinated is an immeasurable step towards another layer of protection from the virus.  We appreciate your understanding and support.
