Germantown, Tennessee--March 30, 2021,--
The artistic students from Houston High school have utilized and enhanced their creative skills on the Literary Magazine, Avatar: Spectrum, even during unfavorable circumstances such as the COVID-19 pandemic. This project was led by Karen Garrison, who teaches Honors/ Standard English 11, Creative Writing/ Literary Journal, African American Literature, and is the captain of the of HHS’ Wordsmith team. Upon submitting their work to the NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English), they won a Superior ranking, bringing yet another victory to the Mustang home. “Special kudos to dedicated seniors, Riane Bayne and Joy Gordon who worked with me from March until June to finish the magazine during the Covid shutdown,” says Mrs. Garrison.
