Germantown Municipal Schools continue to expand CTE EPSOs and course opportunities
Germantown, Tennessee—November 1, 2018—The Tennessee Department of Education designated October 23-27 as Early Postsecondary Opportunity (EPSO) Week, and as part of our effort at Germantown Municipal School District, to increase awareness and enrollment in EPSOs, the district would like to highlight some of the extraordinary opportunities at Houston High School.

Research shows that students who participate in EPSOs not only earn college credit and industry certification while in high school, but are also more likely to enroll and persist in postsecondary programs. Your student can access a number of these opportunities at HHS including:

• Dual Enrollment – Academic
• Dual Enrollment – Career and Technical
• Industrial Level Certifications

Did you know that Houston High School offers 13 out of the 16 Career Technology Education (CTE) career clusters?  Since becoming a district in 2014, the high school has added 30 new CTE courses.

“Our CTE programs offer robust learning experiences for our students focused on the strengths and pathways available to them in our area,” said CTE Instructional Supervisor Ethan Constant. “One of our major focuses is to explore applicable industry certifications that are aligned to our programs and standards to add to our existing portfolio. These certifications are the same assessments adults and college students would take to earn their professional credentials and can aid the student in gaining employment or entering secondary education upon graduation from Houston High School.”
