Dogwood Elementary has jumped back into showing their support for the American Heart Association
Written by Joye Phipps

Germantown, Tennessee--February 24th, 2021--Dogwood Elementary has jumped back into showing their support for the American Heart Association.  The school's annual Kids Heart Challenge was an exciting week.  Instead of jumping with their entire grade level, classes jumped separately to allow for social distancing. Students collected donations as they learned about heart health.  They spent PE classes learning about various ways to exercise to keep their hearts healthy.  From the single jump ropes to the skip-its, the dolphins were moving!  This year DES families really showed their generous hearts.  They raised over $53,000.  That made them the 2nd highest donors in the country.  Students enjoyed special prizes throughout the week and the special days:  the Neon Jump with mascots to the Jumping Extravaganza and even sliming Mrs. Woody.  Students worked hard to meet their goals and made a real difference.  Mrs. Guntarp said, "Even with the crazy year we are having, DES was able to exceed our goal for Kids Heart Challenge!"
