Houston High School Basketball Receives Postseason Accolades

Boys and Girls Varsity basketball teams each had a player recognized at the state level for their season. Senior Brock Vice and Junior Anna Lee Avery were both players listed for the Class 4A All-State Teams. For each of these athletes, this was not their only postseason praise. Anna Lee’s average of 18.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game helped the Mustangs this season and got her listed for the girls Division 1 Large All-Metro team. She was also a finalist for Player of the Year.

Brock Vice received the same recognition as Anna Lee. He was a finalist for Player of the Year, and he was also named for the boys Division 1 Large All-Metro team, along with his teammate Mavrick Miller. Brock has signed to play with St. Louis basketball in the fall, but he finished out his senior season averaging a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds. He was also named a Mr. Basketball Class 4A Finalist.

Mustangs Basketball have one more thing to celebrate with Coach Justin Lewis being named the Girls’ Basketball Coach of the Year by The Daily Memphian. He led Houston to a 20-10 record and a trip to the region quarterfinals.

Congratulations to Brock Vice, Anna Lee Avery, and her coach, Coach Justin Lewis on an incredible 22-23 basketball season!
