September 2024--We are thrilled to announce that nine of our exceptional students have been recognized as Semifinalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program.

September 2024--Houston High School marked the 23rd anniversary of September 11th with a tribute to first responders by hosting a "Cop Stop" event on campus. The event welcomed local first responders to the school for lunch.

September 2024--GMSD leaders, alongside Lakeland representatives, hosted state officials, including Rep. Mark White and John DeBerry, for a tour of the district’s special education preschool program. During the visit, Superintendent Jason Manuel and School Board Member Brian Curry raised concerns about the lack of state funding for preschool students with disabilities under the new funding formula. GMSD is actively advocating for equitable support for these vulnerable students with representatives from the governor’s office.

September 2024-- The GMSD Ambassadors, a group of student representatives, are gearing up for their fall debut at the Leadership Germantown Alumni meeting and Germantown Neighborhood Summit on September 24.

September 2024 --The GMC PTO hosted a Willy Wonka-themed Lunch and Learn event for PTO leaders, celebrating GMSD’s "A World of Our Own" theme with networking, a chocolate fountain, and a fun district-themed game.

September 2024--Students in Ms. Cristy Boggan’s Human and Social Sciences class at Houston High School enjoyed a visit from baby goats, courtesy of 901 Goats, as part of their mental health unit. The goats provided a fun and relaxing way to reinforce positive mental health habits, with students and staff from other classes, including the Transition Academy, joining in. The event was made possible by GMSD Coordinated School Health, creating a memorable, wellness-focused experience for all.
