Coordinated School Health Provides Teachers with Gifts, Opportunities, and Experiences through Community Partners

June 2023 – Over the 2022-2023 school year, GMSD has held raffles, giveaways, challenges, and more to encourage community engagement, all while making our teachers know how appreciated they are. Coordinated School Health (CSH) Supervisor, Andrew Martin, works with GMSD community partners to help provide teachers with unique opportunities that allow them to take time for themselves amidst their busy schedules.

Some of the giveaways this year included, personal training sessions, ballroom dance classes, ax throwing adventures, and so much more. Teachers can also win gift cards to restaurants, nail salons, spas, and more. Beautiful You Medical Spa donated a deluxe hydrafacial treatment, while Zivel donated a package deal including infrared and float therapy. With a focus on allowing teachers and staff a moment to relax and a continued effort to promote health and wellness, another major donation was from The Hub Health and Wellness which included health screenings and personal training sessions. This was a package deal with three offerings, and four teachers across the district won!

CSH received a special thank you from Forest Hill teacher, Julie McMinn, who said, “It never goes unnoticed how dedicated and supportive you are. I know it must take a ton of your time to line all these things up and get them going, but we appreciate you!!! You really do pull the district together in a unique way and just have a constant positive vibe to the culture and family feel of GMSD.”

Andrew Martin said, “It’s always nice to recognize and give back to our teachers to show appreciation for all that they do, and we want to continue to strengthen the relationship between our teachers and our community partners. These giveaways and donations allow us to help that relationship flourish.”

At GMSD, we are so thankful for our teachers and all that they do to help our students grow. We are thankful to our community partners for donating over $10,000 worth of experiences, classes, gift cards, and more this past school year to help us celebrate our teachers!
