GMSD Student Communications Opportunities

Germantown Municipal School District strives to offer unique and engaging opportunities to our students. Through the communications department, students have the chance to become district ambassadors, participate in our internship program, or lead as the student board representative.

New this year - HHS will also have a team of interns!

The application for these positions for the upcoming 24-25 school year has now closed. For any questions, please contact [email protected].
The GMSD Ambassador Program

The first opportunity for students to be a part of is the volunteer GMSD Student Ambassador Program. The students in this program serve as a bridge between the district and the Germantown community. Their responsibilities include participating in local government events, representing their respective schools at community gatherings, and potentially being featured in student spotlights. This program encourages a strong connection between the district and the community while also empowering students to be influential and visible advocates for their schools.

Students in the Ambassador program are divided up into teams. These teams are led by the Ambassador Executive Council. The Executive Council is made up of students who best showcase themselves as leaders, good listeners, and advocates. The Executive Council is divided based on interests, and the groups for the 23-24 year are Academics, Athletics, Student Life, and the Arts. Each Ambassador is able to meet the Executive Council to see which group best aligns with their interests and school involvement.

All Ambassadors gather together for quarterly meetings with the district Communications team, but there are other events that take place in between these meetings that allow for volunteer opportunities.
GMSD Communications Internship

A few members of the Ambassador program will also be interns for the GMSD Communications department. This paid position allows students to work in our district office, while still maintaining a flexible schedule. These students will have the opportunity to learn about working in an office as a part of a team. They will also get to learn about different aspects of marketing and communications including social media, videography, journalism, photography, office management, and more.
GMSD Student Board Representative

The Student Board Representative is the liaison for students in the district. This student goes to all the Board meetings and voices the opinion of the student body. The Board members will ask for input on certain topics, but it is also an opportunity for this student to engage in a political environment. They get to hear public comments, learn more about budgeting, how a school district runs in regards to state and federal law, and more.
