Community Conversations "Increasing Employable Outcomes for Individuals with Disabilities"
Houston High School and Baptist Women’s Hospital have an important partnership that is changing the lives of students with disabilities. HHS special education students recently worked at the hospital, which was featured in the Commercial Appeal and WREG.

Battle of the Books results exceed expectations
In early 2016 the Germantown Community Library accepted the task of managing Battle of the Books for Germantown. As the competition is nearing the climax for year one, this year's events have exceeded expectations.

HHS fashion designers donate bears to St. Jude
The HHS Fashion Design 2 classes have completed their Houston Bear Project for St. Jude’s Ronald McDonald House.  
Germantown Animal Shelter Adoption Event
On Saturday, February 18th, prepare yourself for wet noses, wagging tales and unconditional love as the Germantown Animal Shelter partners with Pet Smart located at 7691 Winchester Road for an adoption event. 
HHS swim team heads to state
The Houston High School swim team has nine students who have qualified and competed in the TN state swim meet last weekend in Knoxville, TN. 
HHS Leadership Academy promotes early childhood literacy in Germantown
Leadership Academy members spent Friday, February 9th volunteering with Shelby County Books from Birth. Books from Birth is the Shelby County affiliate of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.  
HHS SGA raises funds for St. Jude through annual online auction
The online auction includes several unbelievable items and is open through this Friday, February 17th.   
HHS Color Guard and Drumline host Paint Night
As an Art and Soul artist provides step by step instructions, you each paint half of Love in Memphis or individual painters paint the whole scene.  This fun painting is easy ans brings out the artist in everyone! 
Germantown Education Foundation offers a limited time discount code
The GEF would like to extend a limited time discount code again to GMSD staff and friends for $5 off the $25 registration fee. The discount code will be effective until February 28th. 
Opening Eyes & Inspiring Minds with Houston High's Leadership Academy
Successful entrepreneur and renown motivational speaker, Stuart Cohen, was this month’s keynote speaker for Houston high School’s Leadership Academy.
