Meet GMSD's New School Board Member-Betsy Landers
Germantown Municipal Schools is pleased to welcome Betsy Landers to its school board. Landers was chosen from a “very qualified list of applicants,” says Superintendent Jason Manuel, who echoes similar sentiments shared by various Board Aldermen who voted her into the position on September 12, 2016.  
Germantown Municipal Schools earns the highest district ACT average in the State
This is the second consecutive year that the Germantown Municipal School District has been recognized for achieving the top spot in statewide district ACT performance.

Introducing...Spotted! Great Teaching and Learning
In this new social media campaign, we will be posting examples of great teaching and learning across the district. To become a part of the movement, you can log into Twitter and use the hashtag #gmsdspotted! 
Auditions in the Air
Two GMSD schools recently held auditions for their fall shows.  Read the article to get a quick preview of both A Wrinkle in Time and Annie Jr.  Meet some of the cast members. 
GMSD Night at Houston High School
In case you missed the first home game, aptly described as "GMSD Night", here are the video highlights that aired on the jumbotron about each of the feeder schools. 
Classroom Crashers surprises two teachers over the summer.
For two lucky GMSD teachers, they arrived at their schools to a surprise. Joy Lustig, fourth grade teacher at Farmington Elementary and Michael Robinson, Human Geography teacher at Houston High were treated to a fully renovated and completely updated classroom ready for the start of school. 
Teachers play to win at the big system wide address during inservice
Superintendent Manuel delivers a speech titled "The Why" as he prepares teachers for the year ahead.  Also, a teacher-centric game of the Price is Right is play... 
Football Team to Increase Outreach Opportunities
The Houston High School Varsity Football team headed to feeder schools to give high fives and kind smiles to students on the first day of school. Taking advantage of the later starting schedule on the first day of school at the HHS, Coach Will Hudgens will be placing a new focus on celebrating his players as leaders. Among some of the plans in the works for the team, nearly 90 students strong, include several community appearances this season. 
Be Our Guest—GMSD student to perform in Theater Memphis’ Beauty and the Beast.
Will Lowery, an HHS student, plays a featured dancer in Theater Memphis' Beauty and the Beast.  In this article, we explore the show and Lowery's theatrical career. 
Defending the Title: Girls Cross Country Preview
First year Head Coach Clint Daniels inherits the core group from last year’s State Championship team. Led by Senior Michelle Myers, who finished 3rd in last year’s State Meet and Junior Ella Baran look to continue the staggering accomplishment.
