GPAC awards tenth grader at Houston High the first Pu-Qi Jiany Music Scholarship
The GPAC Youth Symphony Program (GYSP) Spring Concert, GPAC awarded the first Pu-Qi Jiang Excellence in Music Scholarship to Chae-Yeon (Mary) Park. Ms. Park is currently a 10th grade student at Houston High School and plays both cello and piano. 
Dogwood Honor Choir selected to perform at the Tennessee Educator Association Conference
"The group performs insanely advanced pieces of music, making this an elite group of outstanding students," wrote HMS band teacher Spencer Nesvick in an email sent to the Recap Staff.

Pat Gardner receives the prestigious Yale Book Award
Houston High School junior Pat Gardner is having a banner month. Weeks after notification that he has earned a perfect score on the ACT, Gardner was then presented with the Yale Book Award. 
Aiyana Welch earns first place honors at ACT-SO
Three Houston High School participated in ACT-SO talent search sponsored by the Memphis Chapter of NAACP. Aiyana Welch earned first place honors in Visual Arts-Painting. Congratulations Nick O'Conner, Aiyana Welch, and Arie Cation. 
NINE Orpheum HS Musical Theater Awards for Houston High School's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor DreamCoat
Please take time to vote for them!  Including "Overall Production", the nominations throw nods towards director Kell Christie's fine work, several technical aspects of the show, and earns a nod for sophomore Bailey Dumlao (Joseph)--and two nods for sophomore Will Lowery for supporting role and featured dancer.
