Pep rallies make a triumphant return at Houston High, hint at a year of new traditions

Article by Student Reporter Hannah Moore

Last Friday was Houston High School's first pep rally since 2019.

The senior class of 2023 victoriously claimed the Spirit Stick when they defeated the freshman class by the grit of their teeth.

Kicking off this year's Class Wars, a friendly competition between classes, select students competed in games including a funny relay competition, a football toss, and a three-legged race. The final crowd-pleasing event included wrapping Houston High School administrators in toilet paper.

Although only one class could win, the students who participated in the rally all demonstrated tremendous school spirit.

For many students, this was their first pep rally--it has been something they've only seen in movies and on television-- so this pep rally was a jumpstart to a great year.

Houston's Cheer andPom Team each performed routines and showed-off their enthusiasm for the 2022 season.

The Student Government Association also knocked it out of the park with their outstanding execution of the events that entertained the crowd.

With class wars beginning and the school excited, this new year promises great things and the students are here for it.
