Back to School Guide

The first day of school is almost here! Wednesday, August 9th is coming up quickly, and GMSD wants each family to be ready for the new adventures ahead. Below are resources that might be helpful in preparing for the 23-24 school year. We are so happy to welcome you into the new school year!

Parent Responsibility Zone 
The Parent Responsibility Zone is 1.5 miles for elementary school and 2 miles for middle school and high school. If you live within these zones, you are responsible for providing transportation for your student/students. Coordinated School Health (CSH) works to ensure the safety and health to every family with the GMSD community. For an overview of CSH, click here

How to Become a GOALIE
The Germantown Online Academy of Learning (GOAL) is now accepting applications for the 23-24 school year. To learn more about GOAL, visit their website here

  • Dogwood Elementary, Farmington Elementary, Forest Hill Elementary, and Riverdale will host their Meet the Teacher night on Monday, August 7, 2023 from 3:00pm-6:00pm.
 
  • Dogwood Elementary will also host their Kindergarten Parent Meeting on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 4:30pm. Their Kindergarten Meet & Greet will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 10:00am. 
 
  • Houston Middle will host their Meet the Teacher night on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 from 3:00pm-6:00pm
 
  • Houston High School will host freshman orientation on Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 12:00pm-3:00pm.
 
  • GOAL will host a virtual Back to School Kickoff on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 4:30pm-5:30pm. To learn more, click here.

  • Lunch for Pre-k through 8th grade is $2.95
  • Lunch for grades 9-12 is $3.35
