On a rainy afternoon, The Riverdale Junior Honors Academy enjoyed a unique field trip to the Mid South Food Bank.

The Mid-South Food Bank helps individuals across the Mid-South daily. In 31 counties, the Mid-South Food Bank provides food to local agencies and food distribution sites. From their website:

In the heart of Memphis, Tennessee, we pride ourselves on being the leading food distributor in our region. We continue to deliver millions of pounds of nutritious, wholesome food every month to hungry children, families, and seniors.

Mr. Leslie Hayes, the Volunteer Services Manager for the Mid South Food Bank, talked to the students about all that the organization does and how students can volunteer to help.

"It was a wonderful experience and Dr. Pennington and I were so proud of how our students represented Riverdale," said Assistant Principal Shannon Ward.
