GMSD recognizes grade level & subject area that scored in the top three positions in the state

Who scored in the top three positions against all other school districts in TN?

Over the summer, we received great news. GMSD is once again a leader in achievement and growth outcomes on state assessments:

#1 in 3-8 ELA

#1 in 3-8 math

#3 in 3-8 Science

#4 in 6-8 Social Studies

#1 in 3rd Grade ELA

#1 in 4th grade ELA

#1 in 5th grade ELA

#3 in Biology

#3 in English II

This achievement is a result of the exceptional efforts put forth by our dedicated faculty and staff. It also reflects the commitment of our students and their families. "I take immense pride in our school district's ongoing role as a leader in state-wide outcomes. I am eagerly anticipating the progress that the upcoming school year will bring as we employ new strategies and tactics to accomplish district academic targets," said Superintendent Jason Manuel.

Moreover, the district is excited to share additional information about some exceptional growth scores at its regular Business Meeting on August 29th.

Curious how your individual child did on the state assessments?

TCAP score reports are available through TN’s TCAP Family Portal for all students who participated in the 2023 TCAP assessments in grades 2-8, TCAP Alt (applies to students with an IEP for an educational disability that requires an alternate assessment), and high school EOCs.

The Tennessee Department of Education’s TCAP Family Portal is a free, online resource that is designed to help inform families of students’ strengths and areas for growth. This resource has valuable information which includes but is not limited to the following:

  • TCAP scale scores and performance levels by subject
  • Lexile level
  • Test history features which allow families to track progress over time
  • Links to Parent Guides
  • Next-step recommendations

How do I access reports?

Families can access reports at familyreport.tnedu.gov. Reports should be available in the family portal by Friday, July 14 for students who participated in TCAP assessments. Families should use the student’s USID number (a student-specific, state Id number) to create or log into an existing account. The student's USID number (7-digit state Id number plus two leading zeros) can be found in the attached document. Additional information on how to access the portal can be found HERE.

Although the TCAP Family Portal is a helpful resource for families, please keep in mind that this is an optional resource, and printed, individual, student reports will continue to be available through our GMSD schools (in the Portfolio of your Skyward Family Access)

Beyond test scores, GMSD is also dedicated to providing diverse growth opportunities in arts, athletics, clubs, extracurriculars, connectivity, and overall experiences for students. The district's strategic plan keeps our schools focused on a well rounded education--and more importantly helps our staff keep the focus on what matters most--our students.
