Houston High School Secures 2nd Place at MUS Knowledge Bowl Tournament

On Saturday, September 23, 2023, Houston High School's Knowledge Bowl team achieved huge academic success, winning second out of the thirty teams at the Knowledge Bowl tournament. This remarkable 2nd place finish was at the fiercely contested Memphis University School Knowledge Bowl Tournament.

Standing at the forefront of this victorious team were five exceptional minds: Ravindu Wijeratne, Owen Johnsen, Kai Powis-Dow, Kyle Jolly, and Christian Santopuoli. These bright stars shone not only with their individual brilliance but also with their remarkable teamwork, showcasing the true spirit of academic excellence.

The students' dedication and talent were on full display, and they received incredible community support. The Germantown Education Foundation (GEF) and their annual Run for Education played a pivotal role in this success story. The Knowledge Bowl team at Houston High was the fortunate recipient of a generous $6,000 grant from the GEF. This invaluable grant facilitated the acquisition of essential equipment and supplies, significantly enhancing the learning environment for these students and fortifying their competitive edge. Together, they have proven that when a community comes together to support education, the results are nothing short of extraordinary.
